President-Elect’s Message

President-Elect’s Message

"Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time. It is not enough to just say relationships are important; we must prove it by investing in them. Words alone are worthless. Relationships take time and effort, and the best way to spell love is T-I-M-E."

—Rick Warren, Author, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I Here For?

THANK YOU! I want to thank each and every one of you for your membership in our Bar. Your Bar Association and Foundation would not be possible without all of you. They would not exist without your volunteerism, your commitment, and your time. Each of you provides an invaluable service every time you participate in a section or committee, leads a program, gives free legal advice, writes an article, or attends an event. And thank you for selecting me to serve as your president in 2017.

I believe working together and forging relationships helps us better serve our clients and our legal community. Our Bar Association gives us countless opportunities to connect with one another, so we can be a resource to each other. It also helps those in our community who need it the most through Court Assigned Counsel, Lawyers in the Library, Lawyer Referral, mediation, and other services in small claims, unlawful detainers, and civil harassment matters.

Please continue your participation in your Bar Association in 2017 by renewing your membership and joining a section or two or three. We need you to successfully continue our mission, which is to serve, promote, and celebrate the San Joaquin County legal community.

The holiday season is a time we set aside for joyous celebrations with our friends and family. It is often a time to reflect on your current year and the coming year. Our local legal community has a lot of great things to look forward to in 2017—the most exciting in my opinion is a brand-new courthouse!

I cannot thank you enough for giving your time and investing in your Bar. On behalf of the entire Board of Governors and Bar Association and Foundation staff, we wish you a joyous and happy holiday season and a prosperous and healthy New Year!
