Bar Committees

Committees, the life-blood of the Bar, are created by the Board of Governors ("BOG") when needed. Currently, the official standing committees of the Bar are:
• Across the Bar Committee
• Bar Foundation Committee
• Judicial/Professional Liaison Committee
• Lawyer Referral Service ("LRS")
• Minimum Continuing Legal Education Committee ("MCLE")
• Of Counsel/Emeritis Committee
• Probate Committee
• Program Committee

In addition to the standing committees, the Lawyer Referral Service Committee as well as its subcommittee, the Court Assigned Counsel Committee, have subcommittees for their Peer Review Panels. The ad hoc Membership & Benefits committee is working on member benefits -†MCLE combined with travel and other bar activities in which members have shown an interest.

The BOG appoints Bar members and certain outside specialists to committees according to members' interests. If you're a member of the San Joaquin County Bar Association in good standing, you may be appointed to serve on a committee. Talk to any member of the Board of Governors if you're interested.
