Annual Events

Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the San Joaquin County Bar Association is held in November. The event is a luncheon during which new members of the Board of Governors are elected. Traditionally, the Presiding Judge of the San Joaquin Superior Court gives a "State of the Court" address, and the President of the San Joaquin County Bar Association gives a "State of the Bar" address. Certificates of appreciation are awarded to the outgoing Board of Governors, and the gavel is passed from the President of the Bar Association to the President - Elect. 

New Lawyer Reception

The New Lawyer Reception is co-sponsored by the Trust and Investment Group of the Bank of Stockton. Its purpose is to welcome all attorneys newly admitted to the California State Bar and new to San Joaquin County. The reception is held in February at the Headquarters Branch of the Bank of Stockton. If you have knowledge of any new attorney newly admitted to the State Bar, please contact the San Joaquin County Bar Association.

Law Day

The San Joaquin County Bar Association traditionally celebrates Law Day each year in late April or early May by holding a luncheon to honor those involved with the legal profession. Every year there is a Law Day Award Recipient, who has been nominated by their peers for their work in the community. Nomination forms for the Law Day Award Recipient are published in September of each year, and it is awarded to an individual at the luncheon.

Law Day student activities have included a Mock Trial, career presentations, and presentations by other groups in the community related to the legal profession.
