It has been my pleasure for more than a decade to serve as a member of the Across the Bar Committee and, since 2011, as the editor of Across the Bar. After nearly eight years at the helm of the San Joaquin County Bar Association’s official magazine, I am following in George Washington’s footsteps and bringing my term to a close.
Across the Bar is a reflection of the SJCBA, and I am proud of the quality and diversity of the content featured in its pages, most of which comes from contributions from members of the SJCBA itself. The ATB Committee has made a conscious effort to produce a magazine that appeals to a variety of perspectives as well as a variety of interests, covering matters of legal substance as well as events and biographies pertinent to the SJCBA, and it has been our hope that any member can pick up an issue and find something in it that is of interest to them. I am grateful for the efforts of the committee members who serve their colleagues in the SJCBA by taking the time, over and over, to research legal topics, interview colleagues, and pen articles of interest to the San Joaquin legal community.
ATB is also a reflection of the efforts and dedication of SJCBA staff, especially Natalie Vernon, who has pieced together every issue for years. Natalie is a genuine pleasure to work with and has always demonstrated grace and professionalism in receiving input from me and from the executive directors who have been active in the editing process.
I am happy to have been a part of Across the Bar and would encourage other members of the SJCBA—especially newer attorneys interested in becoming known to the broader membership—to join the ATB Committee. If you are interested in joining, please contact Natalie at .
