Introducing the New Supervising Probate Court Attorney

A few months into her new job in Department 11A, Across the Bar reviews Sabrina Schneweis-Coe’s path to her new role as Supervising Probate Attorney in the Superior Court of San Joaquin County’s Probate Department.

Sabrina was a Dean’s List graduate from CSU- Sacramento in 1996 before enrolling at McGeorge School of Law, where she tutored first-year students and represented clients as a certified law student in family law, probate, estate planning, bankruptcy, and landlord-tenant law. After graduating with distinction, she began her career at a small boutique firm in Sacramento before opening her own Lodi practice in 2002.

Sabrina’s career developed and flourished over seventeen years as she assisted clients in estate and special needs planning, trust and estate administration, probate, conservatorships, and business planning. She is a Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law and an experienced mediator in estate issues, land disputes, marital dissolution, and civil matters. She’s been a frequent speaker, presenter, and lecturer at UC Davis, NBI, and the SJCBA where she’s presented a conservatorship boot camp, fundamentals in elder law course, and fiduciary training.

Sabrina has been an active SJCBA member for almost 20 years, including leadership roles with its Trusts and Estates Section, of which she was the 2016 Chair. She also wrote for Across the Bar during her three years on its committee. She has been a volunteer mediator in community, small claims, and temporary restraining order mediations.

Her non-legal community activities include serving as president and longtime member of the Lodi Sunrise Notary and seven years on the Board of Hospice of San Joaquin. She also served on the Lodi Community Foundation and on the Steering Committee for the Community Philanthropy Summit, where she sought to facilitate and promote a culture of charitable giving.

What Sabrina looks forward to most this year in her new position: settling in, of course! “I am also excited to bring some of our projects to fruition,” she added. “We are expanding the communication with the bench and bar to hopefully assist in making matters run smoother and quicker, expanding the assistance we are able to give self- represented parties, working with the Section to update our local rules, and we are working on a potential mediation program. Overall, it looks to be a busy and exciting year.”
