I am so excited to be part of the San Joaquin County Bar Association. I am lucky enough to follow in the footsteps of our Interim Director, Ralph Womack, who did an excellent job of keeping the Association on task.
As we start the New Year, I want to share that we finished off 2021 in a strong position. Our cash reserves are very healthy which you will read in the President’s message. The Board of Governors did an excellent job as stewards of the Association and Foundation funds, as well as keeping many of the programs going throughout this ongoing pandemic.
We have a dedicated group of Bar Association employees with every position filled. My staff and I are looking forward to seeing you at the New Lawyers’ Reception rescheduled for March 22, 2022, and the Law Day lunch. Keep reading the In Brief emails – there are a lot of dates and important information you don’t want to miss.
We are working on restarting the Lawyers in Library Program and the Small Claims Clinics as the pandemic allows. Judge Kronlund and Lisa Blanco Jimenez are working on getting the First Impressions program live again. Check out the First Impression civics program for virtual learning on the San Joaquin County Office of Education YouTube page.
After a very successful year, Anna Maples’ term as President now comes to end. I look forward to working with her, our new President, Jonathan Garzoli, and President-Elect, Sean Geddes.
As we look ahead to next year and years to come, there are so many opportunities for members to get involved. This is your organization and I invite you to pitch in. Our Bar Association thrives because of you, our volunteers. Consider joining a section, LRS panel or teach an MCLE class. Your continued participation in the Bar is an excellent way to build your clientele and create new relationships within our local community.
I would love to meet every one of you even though this may take me all year! I welcome you to call or email me any time.
Many thanks for your continued generosity and partnership with the Bar Association.
Susan M. Bartman
